Punching well above their weight, two-person startup studio Triangular Pixels has taken home an industry coveted Develop Award for ‘New Studio’, winning over some very tough competition.
Develop hosted the awards night on Wednesday 13th July with over 500 people attending representing over 170 companies from around the world. The Develop Awards are the only peer-voted prizes for UK and European games developers which focus purely on creativity, teamwork, and inspiring innovation. Not marketing. Not hype. Firmly established as the unrivalled badge of excellence for the games sector, these prestigious awards were launched to raise standards across the industry by showcasing top class performance and innovation.
For a small team, Triangular Pixels has a remarkable presence and regard to the VR industry, having won an international Oculus VR Jam, launched an acclaimed holodeck-like Steam VR experience in Unseen Diplomacy, and is looking to establish its flagship title Smash Hit Plunder as a defining release at the dawn of current-gen VR.
The award came as an utter surprise to Katie Goode and John Campbell, as they thanked friends and family for all the support, VR manufacturers for their trust, and each other. They hope that the moment of the award will bring new funding and work opportunities to grow their titles and studio, and help the Cornish games industry gain a presence in the UK.
